Several years ago, the City’s finances, in particular the pension program, was in less than stellar shape. After Kevin Ruane was elected to the Council we saw how important that we have someone with financial expertise on the Council. Kevin is now on the County Council and none of the current members have this expertise.
While all six of the candidates running have their strong points, Mike Miller is the only one that has the financial expertise that is needed on the Council. Mike’s financial qualifications: an MBA from the University of Michigan; Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Analyst (CFA); served as a vice president of finance for a Fortune 500 company; served on the City Finance Committee. Mike has offered leadership positions in several not-for-profit organizations on Sanibel and served the City in other capacities. Mike not only has the expertise that we need on the Council, he also has a thorough understanding of what makes Sanibel such and outstanding community.
Mike Miller will get my vote and I urge you to give him your strongest consideration.
