Sarah Jacobson and Kate Zembrodt, owners of the home furnishings and gift business Bubbly Latitude, are taking the lead on transforming the Sanibel Community house for Community Housing and Resources’ Winter Wonderland Festival of Trees.
The festival is a community celebration that also serves as a fundraiser for CHR. After a sneak peek on Nov. 20 for sponsors and participants, the public celebration happens on Friday, Nov. 21.
It will feature 20 holiday trees and 18 wreaths, all creatively adorned by area artists and supporters. Most of these works of holiday art will be available for silent auction immediately, with a few included in a live auction at a gala benefit the next day.
All proceeds going to CHR’s affordable housing programs.
“What better way to kick off the season than with a fundraiser for CHR,” said Jacobson. “It has been so fun hearing about the artists, business clubs, and nonprofits working on their trees and wreaths. The creativity that is being generated by this event is a testament to this community.”
While keeping details close to the vest, Jacobson teased the magical landscape people will see at the festival.
“Guests will be able to walk through a true winter wonderland without putting on a parka,” she said. “The Community House will be filled with trees, snowflakes and twinkling lights. At Saturday evening’s gala, guests will feel like they’re dining and being entertained in a wintry palace.”
Nicole McHale, Executive Director of CHR, said Bubbly Latitude’s expertise will make the festival even more captivating.
“Kate and Sarah are bringing a creative energy that will take visitors to another world,” said McHale. “We’re so grateful for their talents and excited to see what they’ll conjure. Along with the amazing trees and wreaths by local artists and supporters, the Winter Wonderland Festival of Trees will be something to remember.”
CHR’s Winter Wonderland Festival of Trees Community Day will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, at the Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way.
It will offer a walk through an enchanting holiday display, as well as fun activities for families and kids, including arts and crafts, a reading of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Terri Kuhl, and letters to Santa.
The event will also feature music by the Big Arts Chorus, along with refreshments and a cash bar. Photos can be taken with Santa Claus and the Grinch from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Every child will receive a toy.
Admission is free for children up through age 18; adults are asked to make a $5 donation to CHR.
