Love Sanibel Back Initiative Returns This Summer

Scenes from the first week of Love Sanibel Back.

Love Sanibel Back has returned this summer after overwhelmingly positive feedback from island business owners, residents, and visitors. St. Michael’s Church initiated the program to connect the community and support the local business community in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian in 2022.

Now in its third week, Love Sanibel Back continues along Periwinkle Way. Participating businesses include The Shack, Rachel Pierce Art Gallery, She Sells Sea Shells, Whitney’s Bait & Tackle, Billy’s Rentals, and Tutti Pazzi, where a featured event is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday, June 14.

Love Sanibel Back kicked off on May 28 in the parking lot of Wickie’s, with reusable tote bags, magnets, stickers, and buttons handed out to those who assembled. Mayor Mike Miller, Rachel Pierce, Linda Linsmayer, and Sue and Fr. Bill Van Oss gave remarks.

“Going forward today and every day, I hope Love Sanibel Back inspires you to show your thanks to the businesses here, who have elevated the quality of our lives for all these,” said Linsmayer.

Love Sanibel continues throughout the summer. See the full schedule here.
