The League of Women Voters Sanibel hears from a panel of speakers on Project 2025.

In a vibrant display of civic engagement and education, the League of Women Voters Sanibel recently hosted a well-attended luncheon program in January. The focal point of the event was the presentation titled “Understanding Project 2025: Mandate for Leadership” aimed at enlightening an audience of over 100 attendees about the intricacies and future implications of this ambitious and controversial initiative put together by the Heritage Society.

The atmosphere at the luncheon was charged with anticipation as members and guests of the League of Women Voters gathered to gain insights into Project 2025. Held at Sundial Beach Resort in Sanibel, the event underscored the League’s dedication to fostering informed and active participation in government.

The program commenced with welcoming remarks from the League’s president, Cathie Kozik, and Board member Sally Haynes, who both emphasized the importance of understanding all the elements of the document in a non-partisan manner.

The presentation on Understanding Project 2025 was delivered by a distinguished panel, Gary Chesley, Jon Gustafson and Stephen Bear. They were invited for their expertise and deep understanding of the project originally developed and presented to the island’s Current Events group. Chesley began by outlining the genesis of Project 2025, explaining its origins, goals and objectives, and the driving forces behind its inception. Click here for summary.
