N. Miami Man Arrested For Defrauding Sanibel Homeowner

Michael King of North Miami, Fla., is facing charges of grand theft and fraud for impersonating a contractor during a state of emergency, after a Sanibel homeowner reported paying $36,000 to him for incomplete work on their residence.

Following an investigation by the Sanibel Police Department, King was arrested in Broward County and transported to the Lee County Jail on Dec. 19, 2023. He was released a few days later and has pleaded not guilty. A court date has been scheduled for Jan. 30.

Kevin Sullivan of Andover, Fla., was arrested Monday, Jan. 15 following a traffic stop for excessive speed and multiple other traffic violations. Sullivan was charged with driving under the influence and transported to the Lee County Jail. He was released the next day.

A traffic stop was initiated Wednesday, Jan. 10 for an attempt to avoid a traffic control device. The driver was subsequently issued a criminal citation for never having a driver’s license issued.

A traffic stop for excessive speed on Wednesday, Jan. 10 resulted in the driver receiving two criminal citations for failure to register a motor vehicle and never having a driver’s license issued. The vehicle was towed from the scene without incident.

*A criminal citation is also known as a Notice To Appear (NTA) and issued in lieu of a physical arrest. The recipient is required to appear in a designated court at a specified date and time.
