One Community, One Book discussing ‘A Land Remembered’ on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, at the Sanibel Recreation Center. 

Sanibel Public Library has planned in-person programs, including weekly crafts, storytimes, special guests, and virtual author programs open to the public and designed for all age ranges. The following events are from Wednesday, December 17, through Saturday, December 27, 2025. Programs requiring registration are noted accordingly.

Weekly Recurring Programs:
Family Storytime – for Babies, Toddlers, Children of all ages, and their Caregivers
On Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10:30 to 11 a.m., bring the whole family to enjoy stories, songs, movement, and early literacy play centers that spark creativity and motor skills.

Crafternoon – for All Ages
On Wednesday, December 10, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., get creative with technology and decorate a 3D-printed holiday ornament in a fun, engaging, all-supplies-provided craft session with staff guidance!

One Community, One Book: A Land Remembered by Patrick D. Smith – for All Ages (Family Friendly)
On Friday, December 19, from 1 – 2 p.m., join us at the Sanibel Recreation Center for a family-friendly discussion of A Land Remembered by Patrick D. Smith. The Sanibel Recreation Center, Sanibel Public Library, and MacIntosh Books have partnered to launch One Community, One Book, a monthly seasonal program that brings readers of all ages together to celebrate stories connected to Sanibel and Southwest Florida. Attendees are encouraged to register by calling the Sanibel Recreation Center at (239) 472-0345.

Saturday Crafterday – for All Ages
On Saturday, December 20, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., join professional artist and coloring book creator Melissa Gindling to make a fun, holiday-themed, take-home craft.

Holiday Closure – Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
On Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, the Sanibel Public Library will be closed for the Christmas Holiday. The Library will resume regular business hours on Friday, December 26.

Computer Coaching
Sanibel Public Library offers “Computer Coach” services; book an appointment to bring in your device for technology assistance with Hoopla, Kanopy, Libby, and other Library apps. These apps allow Library cardholders to download eBooks, magazines, and audiobooks, or stream music and movies. Call the Library at (239) 472-2483 to schedule an appointment.

Library Cards
Sanibel Public Library cards are available to all Sanibel and Lee County residents at no charge. You must present your valid driver’s license (or similar government ID) to staff, showing your current Lee County address.

Visitor cards for non-Lee County residents are available for a $10 fee and are valid for one year. Computers, printers, scanners, and fax services are also available, as are magazines and daily newspapers. The Sanibel Public Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
