Orchid Society Begins First Full Season of Meetings In Four Years

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

After Hurricane Milton forced the cancellation of its October meeting, the Sanibel Captiva Orchid Society is excited to begin its first entire season of meetings in nearly four years.

Mac Rivenbark of Mac’s Orchids in Broward County will be the season’s first speaker on Nov. 18. He will bring orchids for sale from his nursery and speak on “Orchid Growing Outside of a Pot.”

Due to storm damage, the SCOC will meet temporarily in the Founders Room at The Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way. Doors will open at noon, and the meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Orchid enthusiasts are encouraged to bring their ill or troubled orchids for diagnosis during the “Show and Tell” and participate in a monthly plant raffle and orchid sales.

SCOS dues will again be reinstated at $35 per year or $50 for a family. Guest fees will be $10.

Save the date: The Society will hold its December Holiday Luncheon on Monday, Dec. 16, at the Dunes Golf and Tennis Club — more details to follow.
