Pine Island Sounds to Feature Willie Watson on Sunset Cruise

SCCF’s Pine Island Sounds sunset concert series is thrilled to present classic folksinger Willie Watson for a performance aboard the Lady Chadwick on Sunday, Jan. 26. Tapping into the rich core of roots music, Watson continues to bridge the gap between past and present since parting ways with the Old Crow Medicine Show, whose platinum-selling music helped jumpstart the 21st century folk revival.

He is a singer, storyteller, and traveler, with a catalog of songs that capture the enduring essence of Southern gospel, railroad songs, Delta blues, Irish fiddle tunes and Appalachian music. With amazing vocal and instrumental chops, Watson does more than interpret older songs. He carries on the spirit of a time nearly forgotten by breathing new life into a canon of songs that have shaped not only a genre, but an entire country.

Don’t miss this second voyage of Pine Island Sounds, a new concert series created by SCCF (Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation) in partnership with Captiva Cruises. Featuring unique national touring acts of varying genres in a very intimate setting, the series supports SCCF Marine Lab’s water quality research.

Only 100 tickets available on the double-deck Lady Chadwick, which features a cash bar, snacks and an open-air deck. Boarding begins at 3:30pm. We’ll leave McCarthy’s Marina at 4pm and cruise until the sun sets. $60 ticket includes light snacks and one complimentary beverage. Boarding guests will receive a “First Drink’s on Us” voucher made possible by an anonymous and much-appreciated donor.
