Police Make One Arrest, Issue Two Criminal Citations

Mario Navas Flete of Fort Myers was arrested Saturday, Feb. 24 on a warrant for failure to appear in court, after he was stopped for speeding by Sanibel Police. A records check revealed Flete did not have a valid driver’s license and the open warrant. Flete was issued a citation for speeding and transported to the Lee County Jail without incident. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police made a total of 73 traffic stops from Feb. 20 to Feb. 26, one of which resulted in a criminal citation for never having a driver’s license issued. Two written warnings, 10 citations and 64 verbal warnings were issued to drivers in that time. And police responded to one traffic crash.
