A juvenile was transported to Golisano Children’s Hospital with unknown injuries after his bicycle was struck by a vehicle.
The bicyclist was crossing northbound from Rabbit Road to Sanibel Captiva Road in the crosswalk at 3:48 p.m. Thursday, March 4, when a westbound vehicle operated by Francis Lynch of Sanibel struck the rear tire of the bicycle. Lynch was issued a citation for failing to yield the right of way to the bicyclist.
A second bicyclist was transported to Healthpark in stable condition after her bicycle was struck by a vehicle. Robert Smith of Sanibel with traveling east on Periwinkle Way at 1:44 p.m. Monday, March 1, when bicyclist Stephanie Boettcher of Sanibel rode into the crosswalk near the Bailey Homestead Preserve. Police determined Boettcher failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
Police responded to a three-vehicle crash Thursday, March 4, in the 1400 block of Periwinkle Way. Magen Roberts of Fort Myers told officers she was traveling east when her vehicle “suddenly lost power.” She was unable to stop or control her vehicle causing it to hit the back of a vehicle operated by Nancy McDole of Fort Myers. McDole’s vehicle then struck the back of a vehicle operated by Brooke Denek of Chicago, Ill. No injuries were reported.
David Dawson of Fort Myers was traveling east on Middle Gulf Drive at 2:24 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, when his vehicle was struck in the intersection of Donax Street by a vehicle operated by Arturo Ibanez of Fort Myers. No injuries were reported.
