Police Respond to Three Minor Vehicle Crashes

Sue Stucker of Chittenango, N.Y., was traveling west on West Gulf Drive at 12:24 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, when she turned into the driveway of 2929 W. Gulf Dr. to turn around and her vehicle backed into a vehicle operated by Juan Tojin of Fort Myers, who was turning into the same driveway.

The responding officer discovered Tojin only had a Guatemalan driver’s license and explained he was not allowed to operate a motor vehicle without a Florida issued license. Stucker was found to be a fault for the accident. No injuries were reported.

A Sanibel fire truck was struck at 2:13 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 in the parking lot of Bowman’s Beach while responding to a medical call. John Washington of Ocala, Fla., attempted to go around the fire truck when his vehicle struck its front right side. The fire truck was unoccupied at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported

Anthony Jenkins of Pompano Beach, Fla., was attempting to make a left turn onto Periwinkle Way at 5:37 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9 from the parking lot of 1015 Periwinkle Way, when a vehicle operated by Charlotte Cournoyer of Barrington, R.I., struck his vehicle. Cournoyer had waved for Jenkins to cross, but she told the responding officer traffic had started moving and didn’t believe Jenkins would attempt to cross.
