The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary welcomed our speaker, Amber Cox from the Sanibel Public Library. She shared the many fantastic opportunities the library offers to Sanibel residents.
The library provides free meeting rooms, summer reading programs, 3D printers, VR headsets, cooking kits, birdwatching kits, consistent and reliable internet, copiers, faxing, and scanning, to name a few! Be sure to check them out; it’s one of Sanibel’s hidden gems.
Cox has served as executive director of the Sanibel Public Library since October 2024. Before relocating to Southwest Florida, Cox was employed by the Pikes Peak Library District in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and held the positions of makerspace librarian, creative services senior librarian, Old Colorado City library manager, and assistant director of programming.
She has worked in the public library field for 14 years and has a particular passion for literacy, creativity, and serving others. Cox holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Southeast Missouri University and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
