The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary is proud to showcase Jackson McKee as a recipient of a Sanibel-Captiva Rotary scholarship. Jackson is a junior at the University of Fort Lauderdale. He is studying Business Management while also playing baseball for the school. After graduating, he plans to continue pursuing a baseball career by playing professionally overseas in Europe.
In his free time, he enjoys going to the gym, shark fishing, spending time with friends, and going on spontaneous adventures. Throughout his journey in both academics and athletics, he keeps his father, who passed away a few years ago, close to his heart. Knowing that his father is always watching over him, motivates him to work hard every day and dedicate everything he does to his father and his family.
Jackson and his sisters lived on Sanibel and attended the Sanibel School for many years. His parents were very active within the school and with Sanibel Sports.
Jackson states, “The Rotary Scholarship has allowed me to pursue a college education while continuing my dream of playing college baseball. It has shown me that consistent effort–both academically and athletically–does pay off, even if the results don’t come all at once.”
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club awarded 11 scholarships this year and is funded by our Arts & Crafts Festival held annually on Presidents’ weekend at The Community House.
