Registration is open and sponsors are needed for the SanCap Cares 25th Annual Island Celebration planned for Friday, March 28.
The annual event will celebrate 25 years of support for Golisano Children’s Hospital. Started by a group of concerned mothers in 2001, the Sanibel-Captiva community through SanCap Cares has raised over $18 million to support the hospital. Even through the pandemic and hurricanes, the islands continue to pour so much love and support into this event for the benefit of Southwest Florida children.
“It is truly remarkable to see how a community can support the mission and vision of the Golisano Children’s Hospital through so many years,” said Justin Brand, director of development for Lee Health Foundation. “Having the opportunity to work alongside the many generous donors from Sanibel and Captiva has allowed for the expansion of many services and programs within the hospital.”
The event will support a planned Golisano Children’s Hospital Surgery Center adjacent to the main campus. This addition will benefit patients, families and surgeons alike. The surgery center aims to provide a calming environment for standard procedures and directly addresses the need for dedicated pediatric operating spaces, easing wait times and providing a comfortable setting for young patients. Currently, Golisano Children’s Hospital shares operating rooms with adult surgical services.
“The point we are at now is we are doing almost as many, if not more, pediatric surgeries as adult surgeries in the operating rooms we share,” said Alyssa Bostwick, chief nursing and operation executive for Golisano Children’s Hospital. “That’s creating an increased wait time.”
The event in March will include cocktails, a program, dinner and dancing.
Sponsorships include Visionary Donor for $20,000, Ambassador Donor for $10,000, Benefactor Donor for $5,000, Champion Donor for $2,500 and Patron Donor for $1,500. The presenting sponsor is The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company.
