SanCap Trust Co. Offering Monthly Seminars on Fla. Residency, Domicile Status

As The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company settles into its new office on Periwinkle Way, its informative sessions on establishing Florida residency and domicile status will also return. The sessions have been so popular in the past that The Trust Company will now offer its experience and expertise on the topic during regular monthly programs at its Sanibel office, 2450 Periwinkle Way.

The third Thursday of each month, beginning Thursday, March 21, will be “Domicile Day” at the office, with a presentation and Q&A period starting at 11 a.m., led by Trust Company staff and a local estate planning attorney. March’s session will feature Jennifer Scuteri, J.D., LI.M., Scuteri Law Group, PLLC.

As you spend more time on Sanibel and in the state of Florida, you may have questions about your residency status. What are the steps to protecting your assets? How can you keep your domicile if you’ve been displaced by a hurricane? These and many other questions will be up for discussion.

“Florida residency is not Florida domicile,” said Jeff Muddell, MBA, CFP®, Sanibel office president, The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company. “Many new Florida homeowners don’t realize that and it’s extremely important that they do when it comes to estate planning and the laws that govern it.” Muddell added, “We highly encourage anyone new to the state or planning to move here attend a domicile session to learn more.”

The next three monthly sessions are set for April 18, May 16 and June 20.

Those unable to attend the sessions may also call the team at The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company at 239-472-8300 to set up a personalized and confidential consultation about Florida residency status, estate planning or wealth management needs.

Seating is limited, and reservations are required. $2 million in investable assets and higher. To register, contact Frances Steger at fsteger@sancaptrustco.com or 239-472-8300.
