The City of Sanibel announced the partial reopening of the Sanibel Boat Ramp on Saturday, Nov. 8. This milestone marks significant progress in the ongoing Sanibel Boat Ramp Dock Replacement Project that began on Sept. 8.
Although the project is not yet fully complete, half of the ramp will be open to the public. The remaining work is anticipated to be finished in the coming weeks, weather permitting. Construction crews will remain on-site to complete final touches and ensure the facility meets the City’s safety, durability, and accessibility standards.
Boaters and visitors are strongly encouraged to use caution when accessing the site, as workers and equipment will remain in active work zones. The City asks that all users respect posted signage and barricades for their safety and the safety of those completing the project.
Once construction is complete, the fully upgraded dock facilities will offer enhanced safety, improved accessibility, and a more user-friendly experience for Sanibel’s boating community.
Replacing aging wooden dock structures with new, durable materials represents a significant investment in maintaining the City’s marine infrastructure and supporting recreational access to Sanibel’s waterways.
