The SanCap Chamber celebrated the addition of 20 rental units to Sanibel’s accommodations census with a ribbon-cutting on June 13 at Pelicans Roost, 605 Donax Street. It will begin accepting rentals Aug. 1.
“The pool has been resurfaced and there is a new boardwalk to the beach, a new grill area, and all-new landscaping,” said Jeff McDermott, community association manager. “This has been a complete and comprehensive rebuild. All units were taken to the foundation and new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, new floors, new kitchens, new bathrooms, everything in the units is brand new!”
“An heirloom property on Sanibel since 1978, Pelicans Roost’s recovery from Hurricane Ian means another victory for community and tourism resiliency and determination,” said John Lai, SanCap chamber president and chief executive officer. “Congratulations and welcome back!”
“The chamber has been instrumental in the island’s recovery, especially for lodging establishments like this,” said McDermott. “Pelicans Roost is known as a small, intimate, on-the-gulf complex with exceptional service. The chamber continues to inform and enlighten the public and, like with this ribbon-cutting, celebrates every step to the island’s return to normalcy. Thank you, chamber!”
