The popular Captiva Island Historical Society Speaker Series, presented by The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, is coming down the homestretch of its 2023-24 season.

The eight-part educational series began in November and runs through March. Each lecture shares a bit of history of Captiva Island from those who know it best.

The four remaining lectures include:
• Wednesday, Feb. 7: Captiva’s Historic Cemetery: Past, Present and Future
• Tuesday, Feb. 13: The Spirit Behind the Spirit of St. Louis featuring author Ben Barrett
• Wednesday, March 6: From Laughter to Legacy: Captiva’s Jensen Family Documentary Premiere
• Wednesday, March 20: Celebrating Women’s History Month

“As longtime members of this community, we recognize the importance of preserving and celebrating the rich history of Captiva Island,” said The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company Founder and Chairman S. Albert D. Hanser. “The Captiva Island Historical Society has been instrumental in these efforts, and we are honored to contribute to the success of their speaker series.”

For more information on the speaker series, please email mail@captivaislandhistoricalsociety.org or call 239-472-2323.
