Sanibel Celebrates Tree Lighting

by SC Publisher Shannen Hayes

Sanibel shone brightly Saturday night, Nov. 29, at the Community Park, where “A Very Sanibel Tree Lighting” took place in honor of the city’s 50th anniversary.

The Keys Duo performed sing-along holiday favorites as the community gathered at the park. The crowd heard from Recreation Director Andrea Miller and Mayor Mike Miller. “Sanibel shines brightly because of you,” said Miller.

The BIG ARTS Community Choir also performed sing-along holiday favorites, and The Sanibel Sugarplums performed to “The Polar Express” under the direction of Coastal Dance Company.

The evening also featured Santa and friends, more music by Andrew Lipke’s Holiday Pops in the Tropics, food, and activities inside the Community House.
