Sanibel Farmer’s Market Open with Modified Operations

provided to Santiva Chronicle

The Sanibel Farmer’s Market will be open at 8 a.m. Sunday, March 22 under significantly modified operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The market will function on an “in-and-out” basis with no congregating or on-site dining permitted. Signs will be posted to remind patrons of social distancing and general prevention.

All non-food vendors have been removed, which eliminates 8 to 12 booths, including the non-profit booth. The remaining essential food vendors will be spread apart, wear gloves, and many will have additional sneeze guards installed. There will not be any sampling or specialty products that generate lines, such as smoothies.

Vendors will reduce the amount of product on display and samples will not be offered. Many credit card readers, if not all of them, will be set for no signature required. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be placed throughout the market at various booths and vendors will be required to clean and disinfect “high touch” areas.

Vendors will also be reminded to monitor their lines and patrons to remain consistent with Center for Disease Control social distancing guideline of six feet, as well as not able to participate in the market if they are sick.

The farmer’s market will be run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the grounds of Sanibel City Hall, 800 Dunlop Rd.
