Sanibel Historical Village Hosting ‘Getting to Know Island Bees’

Brad MacKenzie of Sanibel Honey will speak at the Sanibel Historical Museum & Village.

The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village presents “Getting to Know Island Bees” with guest speaker Brad MacKenzie at noon on Feb. 3 at the Shore Haven Welcome Center, 950 Dunlop Rd.

MacKenzie owns Sanibel Honey and has worked on Sanibel and Captiva for five years to preserve our beautiful and diverse ecosystems. He has rescued, removed, and relocated bees to their forever homes on protected land through the challenge of three major hurricanes.

Sanibel Honey is a native, natural, varietal honey made from Sanibel and Captiva flora by local bees. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is also free.

The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday, with the last admission at 3 p.m. Admission is $15.00 for adults aged 19 and over; Youth aged 18 and under are free.

Annual Memberships are available with levels beginning at $40. Member benefits include free admittance to site visits.

The Village Gift Shop in Shore Haven is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is not required to visit the shop.
