Sanibel Police Reports Week of Oct. 29 to Nov. 4

The Sanibel Police handled the following area incidents from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4, 2024:

Officers received a report on Monday, Nov. 4, of suspicious people sleeping in an unoccupied residence. When officers arrived at the home, they located a vehicle suspected of involvement in a retail theft earlier in the day. The vehicle had also been reported stolen the night before from Cape Coral. Officers entered the residence to find the subjects had fled through the rear door, but they located the stolen items inside the home.

Officers canvassed the neighborhood and later located four juveniles who fled on foot and detained them. A records check revealed the juveniles had multiple active warrants. Officers contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to take the juveniles into custody. Additional charges are pending due to the ongoing investigation.

Officers arrested Logan Hill of Fort Myers on Wednesday, Oct. 30, for driving with a suspended license. Hill was stopped by police for excessive speed when a records check showed he had three separate indefinite suspensions on his license. Hill was also issued two citations.

Jorge Sanchez-Rosas of Fort Myers was arrested by police on Thursday, Nov. 1, for knowingly driving with a canceled license.

Officers made additional traffic stops and issued the following criminal citations to drivers. Criminal citations, also known as a Notice To Appear, are issued instead of a physical arrest.

Oct. 29: A driver was issued a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license. Officers seized the driver’s license and vehicle license plate.

Oct. 30: A driver was issued a criminal citation for never having a license after officers stopped the vehicle for a faulty taillight.

Oct. 31: A driver was issued a criminal citation for unlawful speed – 66 MPH in a 35 MPH.

Oct. 31: A driver was issued a criminal citation for never having a license after officers stopped the vehicle for failing to slow down for emergency vehicles.

Nov. 3: A driver was issued a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license.

Nov. 3: A driver was issued a criminal citation for never having a license after officers stopped the vehicle for excessive speed.
