Sanibel Public Library has planned in-person programs including storytimes, tech help, as well as virtual author programs. The library’s public online calendar has the most up-to-date information about programs for children and adults.
These upcoming Library programs are open to the public. No registration required:

• Children of all ages are encouraged to come in, all month long in March, to celebrate National Reading Month – Each fun-filled week will have a new theme where kids can read books, participate in crafts, and learn about the theme of the week.
• Teens are invited to study hall – anytime between the hours of 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 & 21. Snacks will be provided. Call the Library to ask Megan Willis about earning volunteer hours for school.
• Family Storytime with Shannon Gafgen will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8 & 15. Storytime is for children age five and under and their caregiver. Head to the Library’s online calendar to see the full month’s schedule for Family Storytime.
• Readers are invited to come in to discuss “The Magnolia Palace” by Fiona Davis on Friday, March 29 at 11 a.m. Ariana McDaniel of Sanibel Public Library will lead the discussion.

• Upcoming Virtual Author Talks include: “The Power of Friendships” with Author Nina Totenberg is on Wednesday, March 6 at 4 p.m. “20 Years of Dragon-Riding in YA Fantasy” with International Bestselling Author Christopher Paolini is on Thursday, March 14 at 4 p.m. Head to the Library’s online calendar for links to register for these virtual talks. • Register children who want to R.E.A.D. to Rizzo, (a therapy dog). Contact Megan Willis at mwillis@sanlib.org to schedule a time slot on Monday, March 18. This program encourages conversation and develops reading and communication skills.
• Children ages 4-10 are encouraged to register for Strengthen & Stretch with Ms. Robin (yoga instructor) on March 9 at 9:30 a.m. Contact Shannon Gafgen at sgafgen@sanlib.org to register. This program combines energetic movements, playful stretches, and calming breathwork to help you feel strong, flexible, and focused.
• Tweens and teens ages 11-18 are welcomed to register for Strengthen & Stretch with Ms. Robin (yoga instructor) on March 9 at 10:15 a.m. Contact Shannon Gafgen at sgafgen@sanlib.org to register. This program is meant to de-stress, boost confidence, and enhance physical fitness in a supportive and fun environment.
Sanibel Public Library offers “Computer Coach” service; book an appointment to bring in your device for technology assistance with Hoopla, Kanopy, Libby, and other library apps. These apps allow library cardholders to download eBooks, magazines, and audiobooks, or stream music and movies. Call the library at (239) 472-2483 to schedule an appointment.
Sanibel Public Library cards are available to all residents of Sanibel and Lee County, Fla., at no charge. You must present your valid driver’s license (or similar government ID) to staff, showing your current Lee County address.
Visitor cards are available for a $10 fee and are good for one year. Computers, printers, scanners, and fax service as well as magazines and daily newspapers are also available.
