Sanibel School Receives $30K Grant From Sanctuary Foundation

The Sanctuary Foundation grants $30,000 in support of The Sanibel School

The Sanctuary Foundation has awarded a $30,000 grant to The Sanibel School, continuing our commitment to supporting education and youth development right here on our islands.

This grant will be allocated in two impactful ways:

• $20,000 will go directly to the school’s STEAM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), helping to enhance classroom technology, fund innovative curriculum materials, and foster hands-on learning experiences for students.

• $10,000 will support the upcoming Blue Ribbon Classic, taking place on Saturday, May 10 at The Sanctuary Golf Club.

The Blue Ribbon Classic is the school’s annual fundraising event. Proceeds from the tournament go toward vital programs at The Sanibel School, including academic enrichment, classroom technology, teacher grants, and school-wide initiatives.

Dorothy Plumb, President of The Sanibel School Fund, emphasized how the Foundation’s support will benefit the students on Sanibel:

“In addition to maintaining our high-caliber STEAM program and its teacher’s fulltime salary, funding from The Foundation will strengthen the science curriculum within STEAM to include a more robust environmental studies program. This initiative will take advantage of our new school garden and will include alternative energy implementation, water quality studies, composting/worming, more reflective collaborations with environmental leaders, and applicable field trips.”

The school’s garden, established earlier this year, was funded by The Sanctuary Foundation through the monies granted to Harry Chapin Food Bank.

The Sanctuary Foundation is proud to partner with The Sanibel School, and we believe in the importance of nurturing the next generation of learners, leaders, and innovators. It is thanks to the generous donations from Sanctuary Members, both this season and in years past, that we can continue making a difference where it matters most.
