They are too young to vote and too young to drive, but these students are proving that you are never too young to make a difference, one packed meal at a time.
The Sanibel School’s Interact club travelled to Bonita Springs to help pack food for the Christian non-profit organization Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). The Sanibel School middle school students helped hand-pack 169 boxes of food, totaling 36,504 meals to feed 100 children one meal a day for a year.
These meals are specifically designed to supplement nutritional needs and reduce the risk of malnutrition, allowing children to grow, thrive, and develop to their full potential.
Feed My Starving Children relies on donations to fund the ingredients for its meals. Volunteers hand-pack the meals. Meals are then donated to FMSC food partners around the world, with food sent to 110 countries since March 2009.
Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs and bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club funds the Sanibel School’s Interact club. The name “Interact” is a blend of the words “international” and “action”, reflecting the club’s mission to inspire students to take meaningful action both locally and internationally.
