The number of COVID-19 cases has risen by six in the past seven days on Sanibel, according to Florida’s Data and Surveillance Dashboard on Saturday, Nov. 28. That brings the total to 88 since March. Sanibel’s Acting Mayor Mick Denham has extended the local state of emergency declaration, which includes the city’s mandate on face coverings while indoors at public places. The city continues to encourage social distancing and avoiding group gatherings to prevent further spread of the virus.
