The Sanibel Captiva Business Women’s Association (SCBWA) is pleased to announce that Damyanti “Rani” Gupta, the first female engineer at Ford Motor Company, will be the featured guest speaker at the January meeting. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way, with networking at 11:30 a.m., followed by the program at noon.

The topic of Rani’s presentation is “Paving the Way,” where she will share her powerful journey of breaking through corporate America as a young immigrant woman in a male-dominated industry.

Damyanti Gupta is a trailblazer in the automotive industry, having broken barriers as Ford Motor Co.’s first female engineer. Over the course of her distinguished career, she has made significant contributions to engineering innovation, diversity, and the advancement of women in traditionally male-dominated fields. At the upcoming SCBWA meeting, Gupta will share her inspiring journey, offering valuable insights on leadership, overcoming obstacles, and empowering the next generation of women in business and engineering.

“Having Damyanti Gupta join us as a speaker is a tremendous honor,” said Taylor Osborne, president of the Sanibel Captiva Business Women’s Association. “Her groundbreaking career and dedication to supporting women in STEM are a perfect fit for our January meeting’s focus on empowering women to break barriers and achieve success in their respective fields.”

In addition to her pioneering career, Rani is the proud mother of Sanjay Gupta, MD, CNN’s renowned medical correspondent and neurosurgeon, and Suneel Gupta, a business entrepreneur, podcaster, and celebrated author on leadership and business. She also has 4 granddaughters. Rani is married to Subhash Gupta, and they reside in Fort Myers, just a short distance from the famous Edison and Ford Winter Estates.

This event, sponsored by the Sanibel Captiva Trust Co. and Custom Goods Unlimited, is an excellent opportunity for local businesswomen to network, gain inspiration, and learn from one of the most accomplished professionals in the industry. The SCBWA encourages members and non-members alike to attend and take advantage of this rare opportunity to hear from such a distinguished speaker.
