The Sanibel Captiva Islands Association of REALTORS welcomed Kevin C. Karnes, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Lee County, as guest speaker at its February 5 West Caravan Meeting, where he addressed members on the rising threat of property fraud.

Karnes outlined how fraudulent deed filings occur, the warning signs REALTORS® should watch for, and the importance of protecting property owners. He also encouraged use of the Lee County Property Fraud Alert Registration program, a free service that notifies residents when documents are recorded in their name, helping prevent and quickly address potential fraud.
