In honor of Earth Day, Sanibel Captiva Young Professionals is excited to host a Swap Shop event, bringing the community together for a sustainable way to refresh their wardrobes and homes! This eco-friendly gathering will take place on April 22 at the Sanibel Captiva Realtors Association from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Participants are invited to bring gently used items and exchange them for new-to-them pieces contributed by others. The event promotes sustainability, reduces waste, and encourages community connection.
“Our goal is to celebrate Earth Day by fostering a sense of renewal, both in our closets and our community,” said Allie Pecenka, Sustainability Coordinator of SCYP. “This event is a great way to embrace the founding principles of Earth Day while meeting and mingling with like-minded individuals.”
All sizes, styles, and genders of clothing and books, art, and other home goods are welcome. Items should be clean and in good condition. Any unclaimed items at the end of the event will be donated to Noah’s Ark.
The event is free to attend, and individuals are welcome to attend and shop even if they are unable to contribute donated items. Attendees are encouraged to drop off donations at 5 p.m. and enjoy a “Mingle and Mangroves” Social Hour, complete with light bites and a chance to foster a mangrove through the SCCF Coastal Watch Adopt-A-Mangrove Initiative. At 6 p.m., attendees can Shop the Swap and select items from the collective donations.
Registration is encouraged. Join us in making Earth Day a celebration of renewal and conscious consumption! For more information, contact a SCYP member at scyprofessionals@gmail.com
