St. Michael’s Church Begins Community Drum Circle

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

A community drum circle will begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24 at St. Michaels and All Angels Church, 2304 Periwinkle Way. The drum circle is an inclusive musical experience that welcomes people of all ages and skill levels, and no previous experience is necessary.

Some of the goals of a drum circle are to create community and connection through shared musical expression, and to build a sense of place together. Some of the benefits of a drum circle include reducing stress and promoting relaxation, boosting the immune system, enhancing social connections, elevating mood, and fostering a sense of community.

Participants are invited to bring their own drum or rhythm instruments including tambourine, shakers, bells, cowbell, and claves (sticks), and drums are available for those who do not have them. The drum circle is free to participants and no prior registration is required. Drummers can expect 30-60 minutes of fun, learning, and building community through rhythms.

Drum circles will be held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Drummers will convene in the Parish Hall at St. Michael and All Angels Church.
