Yacht rock band The Pontunes will return to Sanibel this fall for a benefit celebrating island life while supporting Community Housing & Resources and its local housing programs.

The first Ship Wrecked Yacht Rock Party, held last April, was so popular that CHR is bringing it back on Saturday, Oct. 25. That includes the return of The Pontunes, offering a night of classic rock music that promises “more love than Love Boat and more fun than Fantasy Island,” said CHR Executive Director Nicole McHale.

This time, the fun will last all day through the partnership of Sundial Beach Resort & Spa.

“What’s better than a three-hour musical tour with The Pontunes? A full day’s Daycation!” McHale said. “We at CHR are so thankful to Sundial for hosting the concert, plus offering family passes for a day filled with food, games, and beach activities. It’s a great way for families to relax and be together.”

Tiffany Beyke, Sundial’s Director of Sales and Catering, said Daycation activities run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families can participate in poolside cruise ship-style games, a limbo contest, a chicken dance, beach volleyball, relaxing by a firepit, dancing hosted by a DJ, and much more.

The Pontunes will take the stage at 5 p.m. for three hours of yacht rock and tropical-themed pop tunes from the 1970s-80s. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

“We’re excited to help families carve out a full day of fun and celebration while also supporting CHR, an important organization that helps people get safe, affordable housing,” said Beyke.

Beyke also noted that attendees who come in costume for the concert are eligible for a costume contest. “Come as a pirate, a boat captain, an extreme yacht rock fan, or any creative idea that fits the theme,” she said. “Creativity is the key. We’ll be giving out prizes to three winners.”

Daycation tickets are $75 for two adults, which includes a $60 dining gift card, and $30 per child age 3-12, including a $15 dining gift card. Kids under age 3 are free. Concert tickets alone are $100 per person.

Also, cabana rentals are available for the day and night. Seven cabanas are available, with each accommodating up to ten people, and include a table, chairs, and a private waiter.

Sundial has special room rates available for overnight stays as well.

The Ship Wrecked Yacht Rock Party happens Saturday, Oct. 25, with Daycation starting at 10 a.m. and The Pontunes concert beginning at 5 p.m. Proceeds will go to support CHR’s housing programs.

Attendees can come by land or by sea, and everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and dress in yacht rock attire. To register for the Daycation, Ship Wrecked concert, or both, call (866) 565-5093
