The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva announces its 2025 “Peek at the Unique” home tour on Saturday, March 15, at the Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way. Tour buses will transport guests to four distinctive island homes, each with unique features and a focus on resilience as the island recovers.
New for this year: an elevated home with resilience features; a 36-year-old mid-island home with several incarnations; a home with eco-sensibilities and a closeness to nature; and a formerly ground-level home successfully elevated post-hurricane. Tickets at $75.00 each are on sale now and going fast.
The tour begins at “Skyview Retreat” on Library Way. Originally operated as the Tin Can Alley gallery, built in 1989, the structure became a home decor boutique and was featured in the “Peek” tour in 2010. A new owner has converted it for whole-house use on three floors, including a spiral staircase to the rooftop deck.

The tour proceeds to a Gulf access pool home that was elevated by ten feet and updated after severe damage from Hurricane Ian. With its spacious floor plan, mature trees, and meandering shell pathways, “Elevated Living” conveys a magical serenity with no hint of its recent history.
Next, on Pine Tree Drive, is the home designed and built by wildlife photographers Dick Fortune and Sara Lopez. “In Dreams” is a testament to resilience planning and survival, featuring open living space that supports the homeowners’ love of hospitality.

The tour concludes in Heron’s Landing: “Blue Bayou,” which, with its internationally acquired furnishings, reflects the global travels of its owner, an interior designer. With breakaway ground-level walls, solar panels, and battery backups, this home is prepared for the ravages of nature.
Zonta thanks the SanCap Resilience group for assisting with the home selections. An information table will be at the Sanibel Community House, again sponsored by the Bank of the Islands.

Please note that some homes have limited access for tour members with mobility issues. All proceeds will be given in grants to area non-profits whose mission mirrors Zonta’s, making life better for women and girls.
