Truck Overturns and Spills Load of Mulch onto Roadway

An overturned truck lost its load of mulch at the intersection of Periwinkle Way and Lindgren Boulevard. The driver was issued a citation for failing to secure the load.

Antonio Fuentes, Cape Coral, was making a right turn onto Periwinkle Way from Causeway Boulevard at 1:03 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, when his truck tipped over and individual bags of mulch spilled onto the roadway. Police determined the load of mulch was too large for the truck, causing it to be top heavy, and the load was not secured or covered. Fuentes and his passenger were not injured in the accident.

Eva Frejka, Sanibel, was traveling west on Sanibel Captiva Road at 3:44 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, when she attempted to make a left turn onto Rabbit Road and struck a vehicle operated by Yasmin Hall, Alva, who was waiting to turn onto Sanibel Captiva Road. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.

Nancy Goodrich was backing her vehicle out of a parking space at 11:36 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at 1699 Periwinkle Way, when her vehicle struck the parked vehicle of Thomas Louwers, Sanibel. Due to the minimal damage, a citation was not issued.
