For the last five years Henry Peterson has held an annual turkey drive meant to collect turkeys and canned goods for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. His first drive totaled 10 turkeys, since then it has grown and this year, he hopes to collect over 2,000 pounds of turkey.
The drive will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 444 Lagoon Dr. A big turkey banner will let you know if you are in the right spot. The trucks will be parked outside and there will be help upon arrival.
Due to the pandemic there are more opportunities to donate. No-touch donations are possible by allowing donors to pop their trunks while the donations are taken out. If that is not an option checks can also be dropped off if donors do not want to handle food.
The turkey drive has grown thanks to Henry and his neighbors who will be running the show this year.
