Two Minor Vehicle Crashes

Ulises Henrriquez backed into a fire hydrant Saturday, June 4 on Sabal Sands Road.

Christina Donohoe was in the drive-through ATM Saturday, June 4 at Chase Bank on Palm Ridge Road when the bike on the vehicle’s roof rack struck the bank’s overhead roof.

A 12-year-old boy was fishing with a friend in the river behind his home Thursday, June 9, when he was bitten by an alligator. The boy got in the water in an attempt to free his fishing hook, when the alligator appeared and bit him. His friend helped pull him out of the water.

The boy was alert and awake when officers responded to the scene. He was transported to Galisiano Children’s Hospital by Lee County EMS and the 6.8 feet alligator was removed from the area by a Florida Wildlife Conservation officer.

A resident on Causey Court reported a large alligator climbs from a pond behind the residence onto the edge of the grass in the backyard to sun itself for several hours. He expressed safety concerns and requested the alligator be relocated.

An injured pelican was reported Friday, June 3 sitting on the rocks at the Sanibel Boat Ramp. The bird disappeared into the brush when officers attempt to capture it. It did not have visible signs of injury.
