FORT MYERS, Fla. – Uhler Vertich White Advisors, an independent registered investment advisory firm, is pleased to host “An Afternoon of Jazz,” featuring the Marcus Roberts Trio, on Sunday, Nov. 5. The special fundraising event begins at 3 p.m. at Cielo Restaurant, 1244 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. A suggested $150 donation per person includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer. Proceeds support the Southwest Florida Symphony, the only professional orchestra in Lee County and fourth oldest in the state.
The intimate performance will be led by renowned jazz pianist, composer, arranger, bandleader and teacher Marcus Roberts, often hailed as “the genius of the modern piano.” The Marcus Roberts Trio is a long-term musical partnership between Roberts, the phenomenal drummer Jason Marsalis and gifted bassist Rodney Jordan. Known for their virtuosic style and entirely new approach to jazz trio performance, the group equally shares in shaping the direction of the music by changing its tempo, mood, texture or form at any time – with lightning quick musical reflexes and creative imagination taking over the stage. Driven by a belief in “letting the music take over,” the result is a powerful sound filled with rhythmic, harmonic and dynamic contrast.
Space is limited. To make a reservation, contact the Southwest Florida Symphony at 239-418-0996. For questions, contact Tom Uhler at 239-940-9494.
