The total number of COVID-19 cases since March is 85 on Sanibel, according to Florida’s Data and Surveillance Dashboard on Wednesday, Nov. 25. That is three new cases in the past four days and up from 77 since the previous Wednesday (Nov. 18). Sanibel’s Acting Mayor Mick Denham has extended the local state of emergency declaration, which includes the city’s mandate on face coverings while indoors at public places. The city continues to encourage social distancing and avoiding group gatherings to prevent further spread of the virus.
