‘Wines for Wings’ Raises Funds for Osprey Nesting Habitat

The International Osprey Foundation is hosting Wines for Wings to help restore Osprey’s nesting habitat, lost in recent storms. The event will be from 4 to 6 p.m. March 16 at The Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way.

The early-evening Wines for Wings will include tasting wines selected from regions along osprey migration routes, light fare, and learning.

Attendees can sponsor osprey nesting platforms and pole and platform installation packages. The silent auction offerings range from art and jewelry to excursions and osprey-themed gifts.

“While this is a fundraiser to help TIOF restore nesting habitat, we hope it can be a chance for friends and neighbors to gather for a good time,” said TIOF President Kathryn Brintnall.

“It will be a chance to take a break from storm recovery activities and learn a little more about our ‘feathered’ neighbors’ recovery,” Brintnall said.

TIOF graciously thanks the following event sponsors:
• The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company
• Kingfisher Vacation Rentals and Real Estate
• Bank of the Islands
• The Sanibel Captiva Audubon Society

Special thanks to Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation’s Native Plant Nursery for providing a natural ‘habitat’ for the evening.

The sponsors’ underwriting of the evening makes it possible for 100 percent of the funds raised to support the TIOF mission of preserving and protecting ospreys worldwide and rebuilding local osprey habitats.

TIOF still accepts sponsorships, program advertising, and silent auction contributions for the Wine for Wings event. Learn more at ospreys.com or call 239-763-5577.
