Zonta Collection Day A Success

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

On Saturday, April 20, the Zonta club of Sanibel-Captiva held its 7th annual Community Collection Day at a new location, the Sanibel Recreation Center. This was a returning event, after a brief hiatus in 2023 due to Hurricane Ian.

Items were being collected for three organizations with which the club has a service relationship: Dress for Success, Furnish with Care and Healing Stitches. Co-chairs Vicki Bourdow and Paula Friedman reported receiving donations of women’s clothing, household articles, and sewing supplies and fabric.

“Each of the three non-profits will be grateful for the donations,”Bourdow said. “Thank you, Sanibel-Captiva, for coming out for a great cause.”

Bourdow and Friedman also report that the new location worked well. Zontians were on hand in the parking lot to unload donations, along with a table set up in the Sanibel Recreation Center lobby. The new location also provided the opportunity to leave boxes in place so donations could continue throughout the week.

In addition to the co-chairs, others who supported the event included Zontians Marla Manning, Karen Pati and Erika Steiner and prospective new member Elaine Parente. For information about Zonta and to donate, visit www.zontasancap.org.
