Zonta’s First ‘Peekleball’ Event A Success

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

Zonta’s first ‘Peekleball’ event is a success.

The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva and Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida, on Dec. 14 and Dec. 15, held the first “Volley Against Violence,” a Peekleball tournament at Sundial Resort.

Named as a nod to Zonta’s Peek at the Unique tour of island homes—Zonta’s primary fundraiser since 2002—the pickleball tournament featured two days of matches for women’s, men’s and mixed doubles at various skill levels. Highlights included the Lee County Sheriff’s Office with an honor guard procession and helicopter flyover; free ice cream and snacks; and items for sale or auction. First, second and third place winners received engraved medals.

Through this event, Zonta not only successfully raised funds to support its mission but also brought awareness to Zonta’s campaign Say NO to Violence Against Women. Because Zonta envisions a world where no woman lives in fear of violence, each fall the organization engages in 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence—a campaign that inspires action to end violence against women and girls.

Zonta thanks sponsors Selkirk Sport (Premiere Sponsor), Sundial Resort, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Tunaskin, Sanibel Carts, Trophy Case of Fort Myers, Engage Pickleball, Billy McGehees’s Wild World of Pickleball, Kingfisher Real Estate, CPX Pickleball, Paddletek, More Design, On Island, Trophy Case of Fort Myers, PickleBelle, Born To Rally, Radko Elves, and Teachme.to; and the more than 50 players.

The next Peek at the Unique is set for Saturday, March 15, 2025. For tickets, click here: Peek at the Unique – Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva.
