SUMMARY:JOG N JAM
DESCRIPTION:Runners will line up for a 10K or 5K road race\, and children will lace up their shoes for a “fun run” designed for them. The event will continue on the beach with an evening concert and fireworks finale. The beach-side concert will feature the energetic band Funk You\, known for their lively cover songs and top hits that will have everyone dancing in the sand. The concert begins at 5:30 p.m. at ‘Tween Waters Resort on Captiva. Transportation to the concert is included in the ticket price. \nThis year’s JOG N JAM is being held in cooperation with the Lee County Tourist Development Council and is part of the City of Sanibel’s 50th anniversary extended celebration. It ultimately supports FISH’s vital programs and services.

SUMMARY:FISH: Crime Prevention Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This even is offered in-person and virtually via Zoom by contacting FISH for a link. \nLieutenant Grace Towler will discuss different issues that are threats to the community\, increase awareness of certain crimes\, and teach participants what to do to intervene and prevent victimization. “You can never be too safe\,” says Towler. “By taking a few simple precautions\, you can reduce risk to yourself and your property.” Lieutenant Towler has been with the Sanibel Police Department since 2007\, serving in road and beach patrol\, crime scene investigation\, and is currently assigned to the Emergency Management division. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Hodges University in 2007 and her master’s degree in criminal justice from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2012.

DESCRIPTION:Pizza two ways\, one with a traditional crust and the other with a cauliflower crust\, is the featured recipe. \nLeslie Adams\, chef and owner of Sanibel Captiva Catering/Catering by Leslie Adams\, will lead the lesson in cooking class format. Adams\, former owner of the award-winning Rosie’s Deli\, Sanibel\, currently devotes her energy and talents as a catering service and private chef. She was trained at The California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and expanded her expertise\, techniques\, and repertoire by attending classes at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.  Adams has been a caterer and private chef on Sanibel and Captiva Islands for 14 years. \nFISH will provide a list of ingredients necessary for the lesson to registered participants. If there is a need\, FISH can assist in purchasing ingredients and deliver on the day of the event. Please indicate if ingredients and delivery are needed with RSVP. \nPlease register no later than Mar. 14 by contacting the FISH Walk-In-Center.
