DESCRIPTION:The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village will present “Getting to Know Our Captiva Neighbors from Laughter to Legacy – Captiva’s Jensen Family” with Captiva Island Historical Society President Tom LIbonate and Captain Brian Hollaway as special guests who will introduce the heartwarming story of the beloved family and how they shaped the island community with their love and infectious laughter. \nThe program will include a screening of Laughter to Legacy – Captiva’s Jensen Family. In this film\, award-winning documentarian\, Ken Sneeden\, tells how Red Jensen\, an aluminum siding salesman and entrepreneur\, along with his wife Betty and their four children\, moved from Michigan to Captiva. In 1977\, they bought Twin Palms\, a marina\, and a collection of 1940s cottages. Toiling seven days a week the whole family worked together to develop Twin Palms Resort\, a beloved Captiva institution.

SUMMARY:Plein Air Painting At Historical Village
DESCRIPTION:The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village is partnering with the Sanibel Captiva Art League for a show and opening reception. Artists will paint outside near the pavilion\, and those pieces of art will be for sale right off the easel. All paintings will feature a Sanibel scene. Wine\, seltzer and assorted snacks will be served. Paintings will be on display after the opening through March 30.
