Two Upcoming Water Quality Meetings of Interest

The second public meeting of the Governors Blue Green Algae task force will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the Lee County School Board building, 2855 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers. The public meeting will focus on expediting progress toward reducing the adverse impacts of blue green algae blooms. BlueGreenAlgaeMeetingAgenda-2019July01. “With the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommended criteria for microcystins released on May 22, 2019, the day before this order was issued,” said Rae Ann Wessel from SCCF, “the timing is perfect for the Blue Green Algae task force to support evaluation under the current triennial review.”

The South Florida Water Management District Governing Board Workshop will address Northern Estuaries Water Quality from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 at District Headquarters, 3301 Gun Club Rd., West Palm Beach. Anyone who cannot attend in person, meetings are webcast at https://www.sfwmd.gov
