The Sanibel-Captiva Art League will be hosting artist Maureen Ginipro through November at The Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way. The artwork will be displayed in the lobby gallery and is open to the public. A virtual show will also be available on the Community House website.
Maureen Ginipro, while not classically trained in art, has always been interested in many art mediums and forms. Once moving to Sanibel, she began to take classes and workshops in the welcoming art community. Ginipro is a member of the Smithtown, NY Arts Council, Southwest Florida Fine Crafts Guild, Sanibel-Captiva Art League, Alliance for the Arts, and Barrier Island Group for the Arts. Her artwork uses texture, form, images, and words to convey her artistic message. Collage has been a technique that she has enjoyed as well as “Zentangle” form of pen and ink drawings.
Ginipro has received numerous awards for her artwork including first place in both “Hands on Art” 2021 from Southwest Florida Fine Craft Guild and “Please Don’t Eat the Art” in 2018 from Big Arts.
The Community House is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
