The Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center has a new landmark replica to welcome tourists to our island community.
Bank of the Islands has donated a seven-foot-tall model of Sanibel’s iconic lighthouse to the Chamber for display in its Visitors Center. The model had its start on the bank’s float in the 2024 Fourth of July Parade.
“Because we are a longstanding sponsor of Sanibel’s Independence Day Parade, our bankers are always excited to set the theme for creating our float,” said Bank of the Islands President Robbie Roepstorff.
“After its restoration following the damage the Sanibel Lighthouse sustained in Hurricane Ian, there was no question we wanted to celebrate its survival on our float last year,” she said.
“Being able to give the model now a new home at the Chamber is such a great way for us to show how much we appreciate being your island bank,” Roepstorff said.
The bank’s Teller Operations Supervisor, Heather Harrison, and her husband, Jason Madden, created the lighthouse model.
“We had never taken on a project like this before and were really proud of how it turned out,” said Harrison. “Jason and I are both happy it now has a new purpose at the Chamber.”
As the oldest locally owned and managed community bank in Lee County, Bank of the Islands is proud to be the winner of more than 50 “Best of the Islands” awards, including “Best Island Bank” numerous times. The bank has maintained a 5-Star Superior Rating from BauerFinancial for over a decade.
