BIG ARTS Concert Band Launches 23rd Season, Seeks New Members

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

The BIG ARTS Concert Band is kicking off its 23rd season.

The band is actively seeking new members. We are a no-audition ensemble open to musicians of all ages and abilities. Some band members have played for years, some haven’t played since high school or college, and some began playing in retirement. Many band members are Sanibel residents; others are from off-island. All that’s needed is a love of making music and having fun doing it. So if there’s a horn in your attic, we want to hear from you.

The band practices on Monday evenings beginning November 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ on Periwinkle Way.

The group will perform four concerts this year:
• Wednesday, November 11 – Veterans Day Concert, Sanibel City Hall
• Thursday, December 10 – BIG Arts Holiday Concert (with BIG ARTS Chorus), Christensen Performance Hall
• Wednesday, March 10 – Shell Point Concert
• Wednesday, March 17 – BIG ARTS Spring Concert (with BIG ARTS Chorus), Christensen Performance Hall
