Billy’s Rentals Celebrates Reopening

by SC Publisher Shannen Hayes

Billy’s Rentals reopened Sunday, Feb. 19 in its little yellow building along Periwinkle Way, after four-and-a-half months of being closed by Hurricane Ian. Owners Billy and Salli Kirkland celebrated the reopening with a community gathering Sunday. They join the growing list of local business owners reopening post-storm devastation.

For more than three decades, Billy and Salli have specialized in everything fun under the sun on the islands. Billy started with a small operation on Fort Myers Beach, where he was the first to offer jet ski rentals. He decided to try Sanibel as a new location in 1985, and he and Salli have become cornerstones of the island community in the years since.

Bike rentals are now available at 1470 Periwinkle Way. For more information, call 239-472-5248 or visit billysrentals.com.

Jimmy Finch of Tennessee and Courtney Evans of Michigan serve icees, ribs and BBQ at the reopening of Billy’s Rentals. They are part of the non-profit Cultivating Hope 2 organization, which has been serving Fort Myers Beach since Hurricane Ian.
