Bobcat Sighting

Visitor Laurie Zahar reported a bobcat family sighting at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 on the porch of her cottage on Shell Basket Lane. She captured this image of the mother relaxing in a chair. The bobcat is possibly one of the most elusive and interesting wild creatures on the islands. They are a solitary animal. The nearly 70 percent of Sanibel that remains in preserved lands provides excellent habitat for the bobcat. Enjoy the opportunity if you are fortunate enough to see a bobcat, but enjoy from a distance.
