The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge wound up more than a year’s worth of 75th anniversary celebrations last week, thanks to the support from sponsors such as Bank of the Islands, which donated $5,000 toward the refuge’s special events and exhibitions.

“Bank of the Islands has always been generous with its refuge support, and we are so grateful,” said Birgie Miller, executive director of the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS), which supports refuge conservation and education efforts.

“With Bank of the Islands as a part of the island community for nearly 25 years, we understand and appreciate history,” said Geoff Roestorff, CEO of Edison National Bank/Bank of the Islands. “Being a part of this milestone 75th anniversary of the J.N. ‘Ding’ Darling National Wildlife Refuge was important to us at Bank of the Islands. We value what the refuge does for our wildlife and our overall community. Without the refuge, the island would be a very different place, and we look forward to being a part of the next 75 years of its history!”
