Chamber Wander App Benefit Strengthens With Merger

530 points of interest populate the current Wander map.

As SanCap Chamber and Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce build their future together as a consolidated member-oriented organization, benefits are already growing. The Sanibel-Captiva Wander: Maps & Navigation app and website, which the SanCap Chamber debuted following Hurricane Ian to inform visitors and residents as island businesses reopened, has now expanded to include GFMCC members.

“We’ve had great success with the free Wander map app in the past couple of years,” said John Lai, president and chief executive officer of SanCap Chamber and GFMCC. “It has proven a valuable tool for people wanting to explore our islands and a much-appreciated benefit for our members with more than 202,000 downloads in a single year. Now, we have beefed up the value of the app with the addition of 200 Fort Myers area businesses for a total of 530 listings on the map.”

The free, easy-to-use, GPS-enabled map plots points of interest filtered by categories such as Eat, Shop, Stay, Play, Services, Art and Culture, Sports and Nature, Indoor Activities, and Water Activities. It covers from Alison Hagerup Beach on Captiva Island to downtown Fort Myers’ dining district restaurants and arts venues.

By clicking on the points of interest, users can learn pertinent information about them and create an itinerary for their visit, complete with visualized, live-time routes. The chambers have the ability to change and update information within minutes of learning of a new business opening, a change in hours, traffic pattern changes, and accommodations deals.

Users can download the local app onto their smart device from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or by scanning the QR code below; or access it online at tinyurl.com/sancapwandermap.
